' which it clearly isn't, and anglo saxons would also have said 'violet' after the name of the flower not having a word for it.  All this makes me think it must have been difficult describing colours if you were an anglo saxon. by Linda McKee

banks for the primroses (and maybe some wild-type violets too)? For summer I'd put in wild flowers such as cow parsley,  pink and white campion, and wild foxgloves, and some dryopteris ferns and hardy geraniums, and some honeysuckle.   For the autumn by Mother Hen

Overrun by blue flowers

I shall put in pots this year. They remind me of when I was a Brown Owl in the GG movement - the flowers are brown and yellow. Just love bulbs. Anemone pavonina is a beauty in the grass at the Botanic Garden and a great favourite with the visitors by Lu

!! September - I have a cowslip in full bloom, also a pineapple plant which grows outdoor all year round in a perennial border, and all this on the cool east coast. i still have my marigold flowering around my allotment. they are still in full bloom by Brian Bliss

I bought a deep violet iris reticulata last spring at Hodstock Priory and it is now in full flower in my rockery. What a beautiful site it is, especially after all the snow we had earlier in the month. They just cheer me up when I see them by James A-S

Lets do the Timewarp again
(geraniums, primroses and violets amongst them) and a large patio with raised square and rectangle beds. I just dont know how to put our stamp on it, marrying up our style, make it more contemporary and enhance what is already there. What plants could we add by Adele Buck
