stalks.  Maybe it's meant to be like this?  Some of the others have dried up and are really brittle.   Yes, I think the brown stalks have died back for some reason - I know it's a hardy plant but new growth is always tender and we had some unseasonal by yarrow2

Seven year old tomato plant
. If anyone knows it'll be Italophile! Providing they are kept frost free, fed and watered I would say indefinitely-commercial growers keep plants going all year round and grow them many feet high. I have never heard of anyone doing this for 7 years, which by izzyl75

Tulips in Pots
I planted lots of bulbs in tubs and pots last autumn - tulips amongst them. I am wondering now whether to dig them out and replace them with fresh ones this year or leave them and hope they will flower again next spring. Some of the pots have other by wisehedgecrone

Moving a rose
or rambler. After planting I'd prune the rose down to 12" or so from ground level. Dig a decent size hole and obtain a few bucketloads of decent soil from elsewhere. Mulch with well rotted horse muck. If you can do the final move I would do it now, then only by bunnysgarden
