find jeyes fluid mixed strong put in an old washing up bottle and sprinkle between plants be carefull not to get any on plants as it will burn. I also find empty plastic bottles half filled with water works to a degree, Good Luck I use silent roar lion by belinda

Magnolia
What can have killed my 10 year old Magnolia Stellata.  Last year it was beautiful - this year it has failed to show any signs of life at all.  Any ideas on what could have killed it?  Also, if I plant another one in the same place is it likely by Mary6

new years resolution
the weather wasn't favourable and the seed packet didn't explain that certain plants really need a lot of warmth/sun/water etc even though I thought I had followed all the instructions. Happy New Year to you too If you listen to Monty he is always telling by flowering rose

of the damp weather have not even found the need to water them Sounds good way to grow your seedlings maud  Gatehill, we have a Nursery just up the road with fields of greenhouses, they produce those solid looking early plants by giving artificial light by gatehill

Lavender hedge!!
Dear All, Last summer we had the front of our house landscaped, and as part of it we had a small border dug around a bay window for planting some low-lying shrubs etc. The contractor filled it with soil from another part of the garden. I thought by MattCUK76

Pruning tall evergreen holly
leaves left on the cutting. A free-draining compost is best (addsharp  sand or perlite) since the cuttings should not dry out but do not need to be water-logged as this can cause them to rot. Raising them in a largeish plant pot with a clear plastic bag by Hu Cro

Flowers we don't like?
goes into those little sachets of flower food that come with some bunches of flowers? As discodave says, you want to change the water frequently, but you then need more flower food. A scientific friend suggested ; sugar, aspirin and some plant food by artjak

back at a later date, and still have bushy plants and plenty of flowers next year, and such a shame to deny the goldfinches of a meal that they so enjoy by doing it now. After all, the garden should be enjoyed by all, and that includes the wildlife by jollysue
