Talkback: Suppressing weeds with carpet
. It had to get through carpet (under grass and brambles) which had obviously been there for years and years! I used black plastic over the winter on my raised beds to suppress the weeds and this has been very effective. I wish i was as organised as you! I by John- Stockport

of it out then spray with weed killer rd website says hard to get rid of it maybe flame thrower too wet thou Yes think you need advice from someone knowledgeable, can be quite tricky I believe. I read that it's better to keep pulling it up rather than by catherine mellor

://www.english-country-garden.com/flowers/common-figwort.htm .  This is obviously a good year for it; it's been cropping up all over the place.  It likes the damp - it used to be used medicinally by herbalists for skin conditions.  I suppose technically it's a weed nowadays, but I think it's an interesting by Helofagarden

It would be most helpful if your site could help coping with the various climate zones. Here in Argyll we still have winter conditions. I bought a wind up radio for the greenhouse and I also tend to listen to the excellent BBC podcasts while I weed by fallen angel

weed, plant or veggie?
by the wind, animals etc. to the extent of a patch of our lawn being full of parsnips! so i don't want to assume this plant is a weed and just dig it up to find it was actually something edible. i don't want to leave it if it is a weed as it's taking water by Mizz

that the roots give off kills the weeds - Sarah Raven has it in her catalogue and says it is very effective. I am thinking of trying it on a patch of bindweed I think weeds should be left where they are! Helen, I think that the Tagetes you are referring by barton

Is this a weed as it is spreading rapidly
I hope someone can advise our garden was totally cleared this year and replanted however we have this plant sprouting everywhere, it has a bulb type root and each time I have uprooted it comes back as strong The saying is a weed is a plant growing by Annie 5
