Talkback: Controlling weeds
I too have an obelisk in the garden, and have planted it with sweet peas. Weeds have already popped up in the centre to mock me, well before the sps. With another tower (for climbing squash, made with branches and wire) I've left one side open so by Reluctant Gardener

I've a lot growing in my garden and i'm pretty poor at knowing what much of it is. There may be a lot of weeds so i'm hoping experienced gardeners can help me identify what should be pulled and what should stay. so here is my first candidate by blackest

New home old weeds
.  However, the borders in my garden are completely given over to weeds and grass and the soil is heavily and compacted.  I want to remove the grass and weeds to start almost with a blank slate into which I want to plant rose trees to be the main feature by Gavin

Mystery weed/grass
Hi all I wonder if anyone can help with identifying a weed that my Dad has in his allotment (in fact many of the allotments in that area do)? It grows about 15 inches tall, and has white flowers. The flowers almost look like they could be a grass by maxijam

Bird feeders causing weeds?
feeders.  It's easy enough to weed round its edges once in a while. I've got a resident clever blackbird wo watches for the blue tits feeding at the fat balls and sits underneath on the lawn catching anything that falls down. It's as if they have come by Surbiton_Margot

Invasive Plant/weed
A large pink flowering plant has grown up in my garden which has spread all over the garden.  I believe it is some sort of invasive weed ( I have checked the Himalayan Balsam but it does not seem the same).  I cut back the stems and flower by Eileen2

Clearing weeds from a paddock
, they come up on ebay every now and again and I will vouch for them though you may also need a pipe and flat cap to go with it. After that go back to the mower and a repeated close cut will prevent any course weeds like dock coming back. by andyjp007

Flaming Weeds!
Bought one of the best bit of kit in a long time today.  A flaming weed gun! Fantastic.  Turn on gas, ignite and whoosh - obliterating weeds like no tomorrow.  I know I might not kill the roots and they might be back, but to clear a whole path in 5 by Tim Burr
