Talkback: Growing lupins
Are they attractive to pollinators and other wildlife? The bees love 'em so do slugs and snails Agree with both of the above, but I love seeing the bees on them I little trick I do to prolong the flowering time is when seed pods start to form by tosca1

Bees, Butterflies and Blooms
and many wee bits make a huge bit eventualy. I agree, the Sarah Raven programme was fantastic, and it all makes sence, just let the hedge rows/wild flowers grow,we have many baron fields around us that look dreadful so why can't they be ploughed then sewn by Botticelliwoman

Invasive plants to avoid
weed of the first order, deasd head it assiduously. Forgot another one, Solidago, that also seeds itself everywhere if not cut down. Hiya Berghill, I had a piece of solidago "kindly" given me when I admired the yellow flowers. The donor's garden by christopher2

Scented flowers
fragrant flowers. They do like a little shelter, but this helps the fragrance to linger. May I also add V.carlessii to the above list. Deciduous to about 4ft, huge pompons of lily-scented white, flushed pink flowers, now. Both are well worth a go by David Hurrion

Talkback: Snowdrop season
been in flower for more than a month but the problem is I don't know which variety it is (I inherited the garden a few years ago with mature planting); it seems too orange to be Hamamelis x intermedia 'Diane' but not sure what else. Can I submit by James A-S

in the garden when we moved in 6 years ago. It flowered for two years then disappeared. Could the seeds have lain dormant for so long? 6 years is a long time, do any neighbours have them? Lorea-my guesses are usually wrong-but-could the second be a penstemon by Lorea

Hanging baskets and window boxes
with white muscari bulbs and maybe even narcissus Thalia is a nice subtle combo, especially in a basket that's ornamental in itself, like wicker. Long season too, and u end up with stuff you can plant out and keep. For full flower power, I do million bells by obelixx

Talkback: Growing orange trees
't fruit (& moving them outside in the spring/summer should certainly help them to do so) the scent from the flowers is enough to make the effort of helping them survive worthwhile. THat is SO sad! I spent years washing scale insects of our bay tree by Kate Bradbury
