Hi, The last of the snow has melted and the weather is starting to warm up, do you think it's ok to sow my wildflower meadow even if there is still the risk of frost? wildflowers are used to our climate, they'll be fine.  Thank you by Erica938

Creating a wildflower meadow
Hello, I'm new to this site but would love to ask more experienced gardeners for some advice. We would like to create a wildflower meadow in our field in an area approx 5 metres by 15 metres. The main issue we have is that our house is on the site by chinchillasoup

Talkback: How to grow wildflower meadow plants
Nice and simple to do! I'm trying to turn a plain boring verge into a wildflower "meadow" - bought plugs are too expensive a way to do it and I've had poor result (sub 10%) with direct planted seed, so this would make a good use of my plug trays by GlenG

I have a 2m/15m wild flower meadow growing but want to know what to do with it over winter. The plants are all perrenials and hardy perrenials. Thanks Nothing. You will need to strim it when the plants have seeded, around about August by SarahTho

meadow turf
:http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=436We saw instant wildflower turf demonstrated on one of the TV gardening programs earlier this year (I've forgotten exactly which one). It's brilliant stuff. To create a very small mini-meadow, of a few square metres, in a typical garden, it would by alison johnson

wildflowers is vast and your choice will depend on the situation of your meadow area.  Also try and find out which plants are native to your area as these will probably do better. Another easier alternative is to clear the proposed area of grass, as if you by dobby2

to seed or not to seed??
my lawn looks horrid, is it ok to seed it now?? If the soil is warm enough- but it will be slow to germinate- grass seed is not that expensive why not just give it a try? Yes, go for it! Not exactly the same but I've just sown my wildflower meadow by denise butcher

plants for a wild life friendly meadow
in trying to reduce the grass growth by introducing yellow rattle.  Another way of doing this is to remove all mown grass from the meadow as this will reduce fertility (but you probably know that already).  I've had wildflower meadows in the past, but have by nutcutlet
