Germination of some wildflowers
I have sown some corncockle seeds several times in different locations this spring and they have failed to germinate! The catalogue labelled them as 'easy'... what am I doing wrong? The same also for meadow cranesbill.  Any advice gratefully by Outdoor girl

Talkback: Stinging nettles
wouldn't use it in a wildflower meadow except painted on to individual plants if I really had to.  I would never us a Monsanto prodcut on prinicpal. Nettles are an indication that your soil is probably too fertile for a good wildflower meadow and, as a by Debs

.Most weed's get the chop once a week if dry enough thank to Mrs Oldchoppy.Oldchippy I have close cropped lawn to approx 50%, long grass to 10%, wildflower meadow to aaprox 20% and nectar rich borders to 20%. In the longer grass I have Bladder Campion by ChristyRose

in the approach to gardening and perhaps life too (!) is empathy. Order and formality can be sophisticated and impressive and these can be achieved beautifully but a wildflower meadow (for example)buzzing with life, colour, texture and movement - this just is by Wild Soundscape

so easily if there is different immunity to it in the plant population. Carpet bedding has little biodiversity while a wildflower meadow has a lot. Hope that helps. I am sure you are not at all lazy if you ask questions like that. Having had some by Wildman of Pershore
