Absence of Frogs
Three years ago I had over 60 frogs in my wildlife friendly garden in South Suffolk. Numbers subsequently diminished and this year there is only one frog on the pond. Have not discovered any dead frogs. What is going on ? JenBee Hi JenBee, do by JenBee

Hi all, I will have a lovely garden, although I hate the thing just now after digging up stumps and rubble all weekend... I am about to plant a box hedge around the boundary and then will start planting some shrubs and then herbacious plants. I have by Bill Mansfield

Very old bramley apple tree
off the tree it would be really good to put the trunk somewhere in the garden and leave it to rot down naturally, providing invaluable habitat for all sorts of wildlife. http://gardenofeaden.blogspot.co.uk/2008/12/importance by RDG

Murky water in Pond
. They breed quite quickly but they'll take a bit of time to conquer it - perhaps a few weeks. The more you add, the faster they'll tackle the murk. As with most wildlife gardening, it's the base of your trophic pyramid that's the most vital. Watercress is also by LizzyT2

At wits end with carrots and slugs
resident hedgehog and loads of frogs in the garden. Tried again this year and had very successful germination only for them all to disappear only three days later. I know it's a perennial question but does anyone have any ideas.   What is really odd by Auntiemand

Talkback: Swifts, newts and decking
have in our London garden. Please don't put goldfish into the pond. Fish and wildlife are just not compatible. You will lose the newts, dragonflies, boatmen, beetles and all. In response to Sylvia's comments the dark spotted-back newts are males by Frieda (London)

Soil problem? (Newly created woodland area)
We've noticed growths of green algae and mossy stuff appearing on top of the soil in our woodland garden. We dug it over completely in the late spring and we're in the process of creating a woodland area. There is dappled shade from a neighbour by wisehedgecrone
