onion help needed!
I planted onion sets in the winter.  They now seem to be forming flower heads even though the onions are still very small. What should I do?  Am I meant to cut off the flower head to stop all energies going into that? Yes - you've got it.  The by garden potterer

Keeping on bulbs in containers
Hello! I've tried googling for this question, but can't find anything which quite answers it. I have several grape hyacinth bulbs flowering at the moment in containers on my balcony (and a few indoors who didn't like that at ALL and shot up and went by Domitella

Annuals, Perenials and Bi-annuals
bulbs of which i will plant in september for spring colour. I fancy Orange - any ideas guys?       Violas and pansies are good in pots over winter - if it's mild, they'll flower right through. Orange spring  bulbs - that's harder. But you can get orange by Cia

Talkback: Planting bulbs in lawns
I shall put in pots this year. They remind me of when I was a Brown Owl in the GG movement - the flowers are brown and yellow. Just love bulbs. Anemone pavonina is a beauty in the grass at the Botanic Garden and a great favourite with the visitors by Lu

Talkback: How to harvest garlic
for harvesting? I believe you wait until the plant has flowered and the leaves have withered, then it is right to harvest. Haven't done it myself yet though as this is my first year growing garlic! I love both wild and bulb garlic...but this has inspired me by Denzle43

Spring ideas
bulbs should have been planted in September-so it is getting a bit late-but if you get the likes of daffodils in now they will still flower next year- but might be a bit later than usual The key thing is to get a move on- before any real bad weather by Emmaandsam Emmaandsam

Alliums
so I would plant yours out in the garden.  They are perfectly hardy but don't like damp soil in winter.  If you leave the flower heads to go to seed you may well get lots of babies which can be potted up and grown on until mature enough to flower by sarah wootton

Autumn
Does anyone know/grow an unusual  autumn plant named Sternbergia ? I dont grow them, but they make a lovely bit of autumn colour. They are widely available in the net. Need a good summer or you'll just get winter leaves. Nice if they do perform by arbutus1

Talkback: Planting spring bulbs
bulb with a maximum height of 40 cm ? I live in Belgium so it can be a lite bit colder here than in the UK. Bees sleep in crocus flowers? That is so cool! I'm planting loads of tulips this year. I'm planting the bulbs in pots with daffs planted on top by hayinwood
