Spring Garden
all the old perennials out, only to find my tulip bulbs rotten in their baskets which I planted maybe 2 years ago!  I have heavey clay soil and as this bit of garden is visible from my kitchen window, I'd like a cheerful display from early spring by Snailspace

aliums
their job and are beginning to die away for the Summer rest. So to keep the flowers big and bold, start feeding as soon as the 'noses' show through the soil in late winter. Sorry, Berghill - crossed my alliums with my daffs It is a question on knowing ones by christine clarke4

New year growth starting early
, wallflowers and stocks starting to open up, etc. I still have some summer bedding plants in flower too. usually perennials survive well down here but now,I'm beginning to worry that with all this rain they may rot over the winter. Another wet day by Tim Burr

Can I keep iris bulbs until the spring or should I plant them now?
?  Or is it ok to plant them now but keep them inside for the winter? Thanks! I would plant them now but just add lots of grit. I am a little confused, are these rhizomes? When are you expecting them to flower? Mine are hardy why do they need to go inside? http by emmarose

Hanging/trailing plants in full shade - any advice?
can buy the tubers now and start them off indoors in the warm to plant out after risk of frost. There are lovely trailing ones as well as more upright ones. If you want pots of flowers now have a look in a garden centre where they have flowering bulbs by Hogroast2

Autumn planting of Alliums (not!!)
/ winter (assuming its not freezing cold or very wet). Ive got about 60 bulbs in all. :-/ Yes, that'll be fine. Sounds like a lot of trouble to go to-I would be more inclined to store the bulbs in a cool dry place for a few weeks and then plant in the soil by Tim Burr
