winter protection
-free conservatory or heated greenhouse.  Sometimes people are lucky and manage to get them through the winter by wrapping them in fleece, but a particularly hard winter will sometimes get them even then. This may help by Saj

Wheelbarrow handle grips.
can you wrap some plastic tape (like insulation tape) round the wheelbarrow handles, then push on the handle grips, so it's a really nice tight fit ? Should work. The inner tube might be a bit more grippy as it's soft rubber. just glue the buggers by Apgerald

laying newspaper any suggestions as these are the tree dahlias and they're too nice to loose thanks As long as the bedroom is fairly cool the dahlias shouldn't dry out. I would wrap dahlias loosely in newspaper/whatever individually but keep them by green fingerd will

Greenhouse
mine, no electrics down there, & dont fancy freestanding parrafin types. A good wrapping with bubble wrap in the autumn will keep things warmer, but not warm, than no insulation. Being short & accident prone I dont even try to do the roof. I also put a by bunnysgarden

would be helpful      Are they Leylandii? The type is importantI have cut Leylandii leaving no green shoots at all and creating a "spur" system of short twiggy branches and then wrapped clematis mesh around and planted honeysuckles and clematis by nightgarden

Banana Plant Problem
My Wife and I bought a Banana Plant Late last year and as expected it started to die off during the winter.We wrapped it up and this year it has started to grow, the main shoot is green. However, the main shoot just recently has started to go brown by Petew

Can I keep iris bulbs until the spring or should I plant them now?
My aunt has given me a lot of iris bulbs but it's a bit late for potting now (read somewhere that planting time is Aug/Sept.  Is it ok to keep these in a cool dark place (was thinking of the garden shed, wrapped in a paper bag) until the spring by emmarose

as they don't like the cold at all even if you wrap them up - I think they can only cope down to about 5 - 10 degrees (bit like me). by exdinnerrita

Winter Flowering Jasmine
in a container but they do get big and they need to be tied to something if you want upright. hi there yes i have one in a container and grows up my fence on my patio just need to keep it in shape and trained, i just wrap the pot in winter in cold by shazza3
