We have these  pesky things in our Strawberry troughs and were wondering if we could put some carrots, parsnips or leeks in there instead as none of the info we have found mentions them eating vegetables.  Please does anyone know?  Hi Tracey, vine

well in clay, particularly cabbages and brussels. Don't bother with carrots until the soil has been improved for a couple of years, they just won't grow well from my experience I too have clay soil.  I have found peas seem to do really well.
