If you live near Wimbourne, Dorset, its worth going to Kingston Lacy (NT) to see carpets of snowdrops, by the paths and in the woods. It`s marvellous. Hellebores are out but not many of them. In early autumn 2007 I saw thousands of these ladybirds

reason for donning those marigolds and getting out the feather duster!!Will get back to you..... As this species originated in Siberia amongst other places, I doubt it is the cold alone that is killing them. I have exactly the same problem of ladybirds

I havent seen one Ladybird this year!!!!   I go to all the trouble of building a Ladybird Mansion in my greenhouse and  NO  ladybirds...I look like a mad lady scouring the hedgerows to see if i can find any...one the other hand  the Cabbage whites

Oh dear that didn't work!?! My question was this:Has anyone sown scarlet flax, ladybird poppies or cornflowers in trays and then transplanted them? The instructions say to sow directly outside but I'm reluctant as I would like to give spare plants
