Hi people, was wondering /hoping, somebody may have some useful tips for taking up some turf by hand, without a turf cutter. We moved into our house in september last year, i've made room for veg, but the grassed area is all over the place

My garden is covered in ground elder which I have been trying to tackle by digging over, removing as much as possible and spraying with weedkiller for over a year now.  I want to lay a new lawn. Is there a membrane I can use under the new turf

while. I agree with the other comments, wait until it warms up a bit and give it a good water. You may have to give it a feed aswell.  Just a word of caution-laying turf in the winter is the worse time of year-all that is supporting that turf is the soil
