No flowers on my Kniphofia rooperi

On 08/11/2012 in forum

Probably the poor weather. The plants like a rich soil, and nutrients will have been washed away by the incessant rain, so they may have been hungry. Also, they like the ground well drained - some hope this year!

Insect-proof netting

On 22/06/2012 in forum

What is the best all purpose insect netting for an allotment, one which will be a barrier for onion and leek attacking insects? There is a 0.33mm mesh on the market but it blocks 20% of sunlight and presumably rain too. Is that too much for good

On 12/05/2012 in forum

Talkback: Rose bloom balling

On 14/05/2012 in forum

rain about three weeks ago other than that my rose flowers do not get water on them & they are in a full sun area. The staining is due to rain, as is any balling that you get. Drier weather will solve the problem, although individual flowers will stay

Basil leaf damage

On 08/06/2012 in forum

After having torrential rain for the last few days the basil in my windo box has developed some brown spots on the leaves and they are starting to fall, could this be caused by over watering? Yes there is good drainage.   I have noticed in the past

We have had so much rain here in Essex, ( ha ha drought!) and I have had a problem finding a dry spell to cut the lawn. I managed to do it yesterday as we had a dry morning for a change, but then I noticed these problems. We are on clay here
