Hi I visited Beth Chatto's garden in Essex yesterday and was very impressed. I came away thinking about creating a small gravel garden. I have some thoughts but wondered has anyone else got one and can share any tips. im a noob, have no experience

Very interesting, how do you know when to harvest the garlic ? I haven't grown garlic before it looks easy is it possible to grow in pots as i have a small garden I had some garlic cloves in my fridge which started to sprout so I planted them

My neighbour has a beautiful acer in her garden, it is approx 3 metres high by approx 4 metres accross with very small grren leaves, rather shrub like. She doesn't know what variety it is, any ideas? i'd love one and with so many varieties available

Is a mixture of bonemeal and multipurpose compost ok to plant a Photinia Red Robin? It it about 3 feet high and will go from a pot into the ground. Thanks. Dig your hole then mix a small amount of bonemeal with the bottom soil - don't use too much
