I have a big problem with my clay soil. I have spent the past 5 years trying to improve the soil but to date  still no joy. Can anyone give me good advise on how to improve my soil. Lots of advice here http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/problem-solving/problem-clay-soil

I created a flower bed from an area that was lawn.  I stupidly failed to put any organic matter in and just planted.  Sunsequently I put a compose mulch on but things growing very slowly and the soil seems quite poor quality. Any suggestions. Also

of excavated soil and small rubble, all of which is underlain with a heavy clay.  The contractor did try and plant the beds witha shrub, but in the time since the development took place the shrubs have barely grown, leaving the beds looking very unloved

IS SAWDUST ANY GOOD FOR PUTTING OVER YOUR GARDEN It'll add to the organic content of the soil, but it has no food value. If anything, it'll take a bit of nitrogen out of the soil as it breaks down, so it might be an idea to add a sprinkle
