need advice

agricultural college and on the way to work passed fields growing 'opium poppies'. Nipped off my bicycle one day home and collected some seed heads . Sowed them but nothing happened - perhaps they are sterile - I really don't know but sure someone here will

This isn't me getting too overexcited at the first prospects of spring, more that I may have planted my runner beans a bit too early. They're indoors, in 3" pots, but they're about 20-30cm tall already and the roots are beginning to creep out

the flowers alone and let the seed pods develop. Either then collect the seeds when the pod bursts and sow immediately or let the ants takes the seeds away and plant them for you. Thanks for that Berghill, they're literally just starting to die back a bit now

tip but when is the time to do that? If I do it too early , won't it kill the seedling anyway? It's good to have the heat of indoors to get the seeds to germinate but as soon as they have you want to put them into a frost free greenhouse or somewhere

such knowledgeable people just a click away. Everything grows from seed unless it's a sterile hybrid and they won't make any. You've got some seed, give it a try. I'd sow some now, fresh, indoors and some dried off, in spring. That way you have a double chance. I

/ when to sow/ etc you must.always take them out of the dark and uncover when seedlings show they need light to turn green and grow. Its still early to start sowing most seeds they need better light levels or they grow thin and spindly  again read
