Snowdrops (Galanthus sp.) are some of the first bulbs to emerge in the year, and their pretty, nodding flowers signal the beginning of spring. A snowdrop container is easy to create and will make an attractive display – just make sure you plant snowdrops in the ground, after flowering has finished.

Before you start your snowdrop pot, collect some moss from around the garden to create give your container a lush, natural-looking topping. You won't need much, as a little goes a long way. Before potting up, it's good practice to the give plants a thorough soaking.

Create your own beautiful snowdrop container, in just three easy steps.

You will need

  • 3 x Galanthus nivalis plants
  • 3 x variegated ivy
  • 3 x Senecio cineraria
  • Multi-purpose, peat-free potting compost
  • Slow-release fertiliser

Half fill the container with compost and mix in slow-release fertiliser to keep plants healthy.

Add the plants, arranging them randomly, fill gaps with more compost and top off with moss.

Water the pot well.
