Win classical concert tickets and CDs

This competition closed on Thursday, 1 December 2016 at 11:55 AM

With less to do in the garden, it’s the perfect time to spend an evening away from home to enjoy live music, concerts and performances.

This London Symphony Orchestra concert offers the chance to enjoy world-class live classical music. Performed by Canadian violinist James Ehnes, Dmitri Shostakovich’s darkly dramatic Violin Concerto No 1 is the centrepiece of this concert, and was written during a time of great turmoil for the composer.

A pair of works created by the French master Maurice Ravel bookend the programme. Ravel’s La valse is a musical depiction of the birth and destruction of the waltz genre, while his arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition brings the concert to a gripping close.

A short world premiere by one of the LSO’s own Young Composers completes this thrilling mid-December programme.

We have three prizes available to win, worth over £200. Each comprises a pair of top tier tickets to a classical concert at Barbican Hall, London on Wednesday 14 December 2016, plus all 11 albums released in 2016 by the Orchestra's own record label, LSO Live.
