Laid out around the castle is a series of formal gardens with a rose parterre, topiary and a long herbaceous border. In the ornamental fruit and vegetable garden you’ll find quince and medlar trees, plus espalier apples and pears. Beyond is a semi-wild woodland garden with spring bulbs, and a deer park landscaped by Capability Brown.
Important update
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
