These gardens reflect the changing times of the estate, and the tastes of its many previous owners. The Italianate garden is the earliest surviving example of its kind in the UK, distilling the essence of classical Italy with an English touch. The stumpery adds a dash of Victorian mystery, with ferns nestling among the gnarled roots. The walled garden, full of fruit and vegetables, is being restored to its early 20th-century heyday.
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
