Laid out in the 1890s, these 12 acres comprise a series of terraces and themed areas, from a formal Italian garden with clipped evergreens, statues and fountain, to an informal water garden with stream, pools and leafy shade. A vibrant feast of fruit, vegetables and flowers can be found in the potager-style kitchen garden, while the 30m-long herbaceous border overflows with colour from early summer to autumn.
