Still retaining their original 17th-century layout, together with 18th- and 19th- century additions, these are formal gardens on a grand scale, designed for relaxing walks. You can stroll along majestic avenues to formal ponds and canals, past hedges and elegant statues, through woodland and across sweeping lawns. There is also a four-acre walled garden, where vegetables, herbs and fruit are grown, alongside resident hens and pigs.
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
