Around the fortified medieval mansion are rich and beautiful landscaped gardens featuring a pond, lake, wildflowers, a kitchen garden, orchard and National Collection of hardy ferns. It is particularly noted for its large limestone rock garden, which dates from the 1920s and is planted with an array of colourful Japanese maples, ferns, dwarf conifers, and more.
Important update
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
