Armadale Castle Gardens on the Isle of Skye offer more than just spectacular views over the Sound of Sleat. The castle, now a ruin, was once home to part of the mighty Clan Donald. The surrounding gardens mainly date from the 19th Century. The arboretum was planted in Victorian times and today provides spectacular autumn colour. Wander the 40-acre estate with a downloadable audio guide to find out more about Armadale’s illustrious past.
Many beautiful plants from around the world relish this mild, sheltered setting, including the spectacular Chilean fire bush. In the woodland, magnificent trees, some almost 200 years old, tower above carpets of bluebells, orchids and wildflowers in spring and summer. Recent additions include herbaceous borders, ponds and terrace walks.
Check before you travel
Before setting off check the garden’s website or call direct, as opening details can vary and one-off restrictions may apply.
We advise checking the garden’s own website or calling them direct to ensure the published details are accurate, as opening times and restrictions may vary.
Always take your 2 for 1 card with you
Some gardens have pre-booking systems in place – take your 2 for 1 card with you to validate your booking.
If a garden offers both pre-booking and walk-up options, we recommend booking prior to your visit to avoid disappointment should the garden be busy.
Please don’t make multiple pre-bookings or share your 2 for 1 card – card misuse will invalidate your discount claim at the garden.
