An influential seven-acre garden created in the 1960s by acclaimed plantswoman, author and Chelsea gold medal winning designer Beth Chatto. Set in a hollow that combines extremes of wet and dry, it’s based on the principle of finding the right plant for the right place. There is plenty to see in spring, autumn and winter, with a gravel garden for drought-tolerant plants, a lush water garden and a woodland and a woodland garden for shade-lovers.
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
