The 18th-century poet William Cowper, who lived in this house, was a keen and innovative gardener, who even grew pineapples in a hot bed. The museum’s delightful flower garden is filled with a wide range of plants that were introduced to England before 1800, the year of the poet’s death. There is also a Victorian-style kitchen garden with heritage fruit and vegetables.
