This Grade II listed woodland water garden is full of variety. The five acres feature a cottage garden, crinkle- crankle wall supporting peaches and pears, and a herb garden with topiary cat and mouse. In the water garden, originally planted by Gertrude Jekyll in 1911, small ponds are crossed by bridges and fringed with moisture- loving marsh marigolds, hostas and rodgersia. There is also a yew walk with rill, a stone pergola, and an orchard filled with wildflowers.
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
