Set on a hilltop, the formal gardens offer sweeping views over the valley below. The Mount Vernon garden takes its inspiration from George Washington’s famous estate in Virginia, while the new American garden is planted in a free-form style using American shrubs, perennials and bulbs. Look out, too, for sculptures of key figures in American history.
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
