Discover an enchanted ancient woodland full of magic and beauty. Follow a mile of meandering paths to explore moss-clad trees, exposed root systems, entwined branches, deep ravines and amazing rock formations. As well as native oak, beech, ash, lime and yew trees, there are bluebells, wild garlic, ferns and fungi, and a wide range of birds that fill the air with song. This atmospheric wood is a popular filming location, appearing in the 2020 version of The Secret Garden, as well as Star Wars, Doctor Who and more.
With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.
To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.
Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.
Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
