Laid out around the castle are formal gardens featuring herbaceous borders, many rare shrubs and flowers, manicured lawns and clipped yews. As well as beautiful rose, shrub and rock gardens, there are wooded pleasure grounds that are perfect for a relaxing stroll in every season. From the terrace overlooking the 18th-century ha-ha at the bottom of the garden, you can enjoy sweeping views over the Cheshire and Shropshire plains.
