Greenworks G40HT61K2 hedge trimmer

Greenworks G40HT61K2 – £179.99 (was £219)

The Greenworks G40HT61K2 hedge trimmer is lightweight and easy to use, particularly overhead or at shoulder-height. The jam function prevents the blade clogging while 20mm tooth spacing allows it to cut through woodier growth. The handle rotates to three different positions for easy handling, although the hand guard does feel a little thin. We awarded this product Best Buy status as we judged it to be the best cordless hedge trimmer we tried. Both the battery and charger can be used with other tools in the same range if you decide to expand your kit. Amazon is currently offering up to 25% off Greenworks garden tools and lawn mowers.

When tested by our reviewers, the Webb HC600 hedge trimmer was found to suit hedges of all shapes and sizes while the wide tooth spaces make it easier to tackle thicker, mature stems. The trimmer is heavy, but testers felt it was well-balanced to hold and it cut powerfully through hedges. A well-placed tip guard protects the blade. When is Black Friday 2020?

The Black Friday 2020 event will take place on the 27 November, which is the last Friday of that month. The event usually means retailers reduce prices across many product ranges, sometimes substantially, both in store and online.

Last year, Black Friday fell on Friday 29 November and saw huge crowds and even queues around participating stores, as buyers anticipated the best deals.

This year, the global pandemic has meant that much of the usual Black Friday activity will be shifted online and retailer websites will be the main focus of offer attention.

An event known as Cyber Monday follows after the Black Friday event and this year will take place on 30th November. Traditionally, this had always been the online sales version of Black Friday, which took place predominantly in store. This year, due to lockdown restrictions, the internet looks set to be the ideal location to access all of the offers and deals available across both events.

Shopping online may be especially useful in the run up to Christmas if you are looking for the best gifts for gardeners.

Are the garden tools deals on Black Friday worth waiting for?

While many retailers will stage discount events and offer deals at various points throughout the year, Black Friday has become the main annual event generally expected to provide the most discounted prices. During this event, it is certainly likely that you will be able to find the greatest range of products in the sales at one time.

In the run up to big events such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day, there are often many deals available as retailers prepare for the big weekend. However, it has been said that some brands may raise their prices in the fortnight leading up to Black Friday so that the discounts look even more lucrative when it launches.

For this reason, we are monitoring original prices of products so we can bring you a list of garden tools deals which should genuinely save you money on quality and expert tested products.

How to get a good deal on Black Friday

Black Friday can be a chaotic period and it is easy to lose track of yourself in what is likely to be a pressure-selling environment in many instances. Below, we have some simple tips to help you get a good deal:

  • Be clear on which products you are interested in buying, it can be easy to get side-tracked into purchasing items you do not need.
  • Have an idea of the RRP (recommended retail price) of an item you are interested in purchasing so you can determine how lucrative the saving will really be.
  • Do not necessarily expect latest models to be discounted. While this could be the case in some instances, many brands will use sales events to clear earlier models and make space for the newest range.
  • Balance quality with savings. While one model may offer a larger discount than another, make sure you still weigh up the pros and cons to select the best product for your needs, rather than basing your purchase only on the cost.
  • Check our lists of Black Friday gardening deals. We are continuously updating our selections with only either our recommended or our tried and tested recommendations, which we know are up to the job.

Should I wait for Cyber Monday?

As fewer people will be accessing deals in store this year, things will be slightly different to past years. While Cyber Monday was often the optimum time to access offers online, it is likely that Black Friday will have all the in-store savings available online as well.

The best plan of action is to take advantage of a deal you see during Black Friday if it is on a product you a genuinely interested in. Due to the popularity of Black Friday sales, stock at many retailers is likely to sell out on the best deals so the gardening tool you are interested in may not still be available the following Monday.

However, if a product you were hoping to purchase is not offered at a discount at this time, it would be prudent to check again in case it appears in the Cyber Monday offers. You may also decide to browse the Cyber Monday sales to keep an eye out for any gifts or particular bargains, once you have managed to obtain the items you really wanted.
