Dahlia ‘Hypnotica™ Yellow 2019’ – our star plant

We’ve specially selected this variety as an exclusive to BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine, because it starts flowering earlier than other dahlias and produces masses of flowers all summer. It makes a strong growing, yet compact plant with luxuriant leaves that set off the large, bright, double-petalled blooms. Perfect for pots.

Grow in: Full sun or partial shade
Care: Water two to three times a week, increasing to daily in hot, dry weather

Sanvitalia ‘Sunny Super Gold’

Rarely available in garden centres, we’ve chosen this compact and trouble-free variety for its long flowering season and sheer abundance of golden, star-like blooms. Tough and drought tolerant, the dark green, healthy foliage sets off the flowers and will gently trail over the edge of a pot or hanging basket.

Grow in: Full sun or partial shade
Care: Water two to three times a week, increasing to daily in hot, dry weather

Osteospermum ‘Margarita Yellow’

With its cheerful, large daisy flowers, this easy-to-grow plant will produce masses of flowers from early summer onwards. We’ve selected this variety for the unusual colour of its flowers, compact growth and long flowering season. Ideal for growing in pots and hanging baskets, it is also great for planting in flower beds.

Petunia ‘Potunia™ Plus Popcorn’

The striking, pale colour of this variety makes it a ‘must-have’ for this season. We selected it from hundreds of other petunias for its bushy and free-flowering habit, as well as its reliability for flowering. This makes it the perfect plant to grow in pots and hanging baskets, but will be just as happy at the front of a summer flower bed.

Grow in: Full sun or partial shade
Care: Water two to three times a week, increasing to daily in hot, dry weather

Calibrachoa ‘Aloha Classic Goldrush’

With its compact, but trailing habit, this variety easily won its place in our plant collection. The sunny golden-yellow flowers cover the stems throughout the summer, and our special selection is well suited to the variable British climate meaning it will bloom whatever the weather. Plant it with similar shades or rich purples and blues for a dramatic contrast.
