In the fifth part of the Gardeners’ World tomato trial, Monty Don gives an August update on his greenhouse crop. As well as looking at the causes of split fruits, he offers tips on how to make the best of your crop at this time of year. This includes advice on watering and feeding, as well as how to ensure plants concentrate their energy on their existing fruits, rather than producing more, as new ones won’t have time to ripen now that the days are starting to shorten and temperatures are cooling.
