Native to Brazil, Nicotiana mutabilis bears masses of trumpet-shaped flowers all summer, which emerge white but develop a pink hue as they mature, and gradually darken to rose pink. The combination of new and old flowers creates a beautiful mass of different coloured blooms. Unlike other nicotianas, the blooms are pollinated by hummingbirds, so are not fragrant.

Grow Nicotiana mutabilis in well-drained soil in sun or dappled shade, planting out after all risk of frost has passed. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering.
