Rubus x loganobaccus, the loganberry, is a hybrid between a raspberry and a blackberry. Berries are large and long, dark red in colour with a rich, deep flavour, and appear from July onwards. They're ideal for using in pies, summer puddings and jams.

Plants are thorny. For best results grow them in fertile, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Loganberries can be trained along wires or up a trellis, fence or arch. Cut old canes down to the ground after fruiting and tie in new canes for the next season's fruit. Mulch in spring with well-rotted manure or garden compost.
