Carex elata ‘Aurea’ is a delightful dwarf sedge, forming compact tufts of arching, dark green leaves, each one edged with white, which gives the plant a considerable sparkle. It looks good grown towards the front of a border or among other plants, especially compact perennials and grasses. It also looks good grown at the edge of a pond. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
