Catalpa x erubescens is a rarely grown tree, bearing large, chocolate-purple leaves that lighten to green with age. In late-summer masses of cream-white, yellow- and brown-flecked flowers are borne, followed by long hanging seedpods.
For best results grow Catalpa x erubescens in a sheltered spot in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
