The dwarf snapdragon, Chaenorhinum origanifolium, is an alpine plant with a delightful spreading habit. Suitable for growing in a rockery or scree, it forms tumbling cushions of tiny rounded dark green leaves with purple undersides. In spring and summer these are complemented by small purple snapdragon flowers with yellow throats.

Chaenorhinum 'Blue Dream' is one of the most delicate cultivars available. It bears masses of flowers in summer, which almost hide the foliage. Fully hardy, grow from seed in spring or plant out in early summer.
