Spider plant, Chlorophytum comosum ‘Variegatum’, is one of the easiest houseplants to grow. Grown for its colourful, variegated foliage and stems of baby plants which hang from long stems like flowers, it’s the perfect choice for popping on a shelf in the study or living room. It also looks good in hanging baskets and outdoor container displays in summer, but must be taken indoors again in autumn. It’s similar to the variegated cultivar ‘Vittatum’, except ‘Variegatum’ has green leaves with white margins whereas the reverse is true for ‘Vittatum’.
For best results grow Chlorophytum comosum ‘Variegatum’ in loam-based potting compost, in bright, but not direct, sunlight.
