Rare in the UK, Echium onosmifolium is a compact echium, native to Gran Canaria. It has narrow, black-green, bristled leaves and conical spikes of contrasting pure white flowers. It’s perfect for growing in a container on a sunny patio or conservatory.
Grow Echium onosmifolium in well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered spot. Hardy only to 15°C, it will need moving indoors for winter. Be careful when handling as the sap can irritate the skin and all parts of the plant are toxic if eaten.
