Bearded irises have 'beards' on each of the falls (lower petals) of the flowers. The flowers of Iris 'Barbara May' are lightly scented, and all petals are white with a thick purple margin. 'Barbara May' is ideal for growing in a mixed herbaceous border or gravel garden, and makes an excellent cut flower.
For best results grow Iris 'Barbara May' in well-drained soil in full sun, and mulch with well-rotted manure or garden compost annually.
