Bearded irises have 'beards' on each of the falls (lower petals) of the flowers. Iris 'Christmas Angel' flowers from early June, sending up spikes carrying six to eight white blooms with yellow centres, each with a little yellow beard. It's ideal for growing in a sunny mixed herbaceous border or gravel garden, and makes an excellent cut flower.

For best results grow Iris 'Christmas Angel' in well-drained soil in full sun, ensuring the rhizomes are partially exposed, and mulch annually with well-rotted manure or garden compost. Divide clumps every three to five years to promote flowering.
