Carex buchananii 'Red Rooster' is a superb evergreen plant, bearing long, triangular, fine-textured leaves, which flex gracefully in the breeze. It's ideal for growing in a mixed perennial border, a gravel garden among other grasses, or even as a feature plant in a container. It's extremely versatile, tolerating most soil types and aspects, although it prefers full sun. It's disease- and pest-resistant, and low-maintenance.

For best results grow Carex buchananii 'Red Rooster' in moist but well-drained soil, in sun to partial shade. Like most perennial grasses, it benefits from a tidy up in spring to remove dead foliage and encourage new growth.
