Herbaceous peonies are a popular choice for providing colour and drama to ornamental borders in late spring and early summer. They bear large, often double flowers in whites, pinks, reds and yellows, and return year after year.

Unlike tree peonies, herbaceous peonies die back to ground level in winter. They thrive in a well-drained, neutral soil, in full sun.

The delicately scented flowers of Paeonia 'Laura Dessert' have creamy white outer petals with a pink flush, and small, bright yellow inner petals. It makes an excellent cut flower. For best results, deadhead 'Laura Dessert' after flowering and mulch around the base of the plant annually, with well-rotted compost or manure.
