Polyanthus hybrid primulas are popular spring bedding plants, flowering in a range of colours from bright pink, purple and yellow to more sedate green. Gold- and silver-laced polyathus are particularly attractive, and were prized by the Victorians for their attractive, multi-coloured blooms.
Primula 'Silver Lace' bears deep black-brown flowers with a scalloped silver-white edge and a golden eye. Flowers are lightly scented and are ideal for cutting and using in spring floral arrangements.
Grow 'Silver Lace' in moist soil in partial shade. It's ideal for growing in pots, as long as the compost can be kept moist, and looks great in 'theatre' displays with other polyanthus primulas and auriculas.
