Clay / Heavy / Moist / Well Drained / Light / Sandy
Potentillas (cinquefoil) are perennials with pretty, strawberry-like flowers and leaves from spring to midsummer. They're perfect for adding colour to a well-drained herbaceous border.
Potentilla x hopwoodiana bears masses of pretty salmon-pink flowers, flushed with white and with distinctive red centres. It flowers over a long period, from early summer to early autumn. It is ideal for the front of the border and great for edging a path.
Potentilla x hopwoodiana is easy to grow, in well-drained soil in a container or in the border. It has the added advantage of being rabbit-proof.
