Rebutia is a genus of small, typically barrel-shaped cacti, native to Bolivia and Argentina. They bear large, free-flowering blooms in a range of bright colours.

Rebutia ‘Magic Moment' has barrel-shaped stems, from which masses of pretty pink star-shaped blooms appear in summer. It’s extremely easy to grow from seed or young plant, and makes a great beginner houseplant, suitable for the conservatory or windowsill. Over time it will gradually develop many stems (sometimes referred to as 'pups'), and may eventually cover the surface area of the container it's growing in.

For best results grow Rebutia ‘Magic Moment’ in cactus compost in a container, in bright light. It's ideally grown as a houseplant but may be taken on to a sunny patio in summer. Water sparingly during the growing season, and feed once a month. In autumn stop watering altogether and move to a cooler part of the house, to encourage flowering next season.
